Volcanoes National Park
In Rwanda’s far northwest, Volcanoes National Park clings to the steep, misty slopes of the spectacular Virunga Mountains. Named for its chain of dormant volcanoes, the park protects some of Africa’s most treasured landscapes and rich ecosystems, spanning dramatic altitude changes up to 4,507 m across the summits of five volcanoes. Beyond its iconic scenery, it’s also home to unforgettable primate encounters, most notably mountain gorillas and the playful, rare golden monkeys.
