The tiny sultanate of Brunei is just a remnant of a naval empire that once ruled all of Borneo and part of the present-day Philippines. Nevertheless this quiet darussalam (Arabic for 'abode of peace') boasts the largest oilfields in Southeast Asia.
Bandar Seri Begawan
Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital of Brunei and is its largest city. Originally known as Brunei Town, it was named after the Sultan’s late father, Omar Ali Saifuddien, in 1970.
